'Ad Hawk'

   "
A guy in an upstairs hotel room walks over to a modern looking
"boom box" and hits the play button, fiddles with the volume knob
a bit and walks over to an open window, there he looks down to
a girl sunbathing poolside, who motions for him to turn the song up."

If you watch TV much you have probably have seen this commercial, it
is for Aiwa audio electronics, and features a pretty cool song.
The problem with commercials are they NEVER tell you who is
playing the song!

One commercial features a song called "Freedom" which is easily
identified as Jimi Hendrix to those of us who know music, but chances
are likely that you hear a song that you didn't know - then what?

Well after a few hours of hunting around on the 'Net I found out that
the Aiwa song was sung by a Mylene Farmer an artist that is relatively
unknown here in the U.S.A. For the curious, the song title is "Tomber 7 Fois"
which also includes other cool tracks on her CD.

All Right Here
Now you can find out who did what songs from commercials at one spot!
Ad Critic a long-time librarian of all things "commercials" have a section
for just such things: http://www.adcritic.com/music/

Wait A Minute Mr. DeeJay!
Also if you listen to the radio on the way to work, or even at work, then
chances are likely you here a song you like but the DJ is too lazy or forgets
to mention who plays it - what do you do now?  Well Sony has an answer.

They created a network of radio stations (hundreds if not thousands participate)
which keep detailed records of what songs are played and at what times.
The catch is you need to make a "sound bookmark" by using a cheap device
called an Emarker, you can find out more about this technology here:
