Computer Security
By: Charles Randalf

Over the years we have come in contact with a lot of different companies,
and met a lot of interesting people, one such company is NetData who specializes
in computer security.

I was talking to a tech at NetData; who clued me in on their latest product-
DesktopLock.

They actually have the City Police as a client, and offer a "home" version as well
as a small business edition.

What is different about DesktopLock is the way you Log - IN and OUT of your
computer.

What Is It?
Their software allows for either a barcode card or Battery Key to login.

The Battery Key  is a small metal disc about the same size as a Certs candy, they
nicknamed it the Battery Key because its' close resemblance to a watch battery.
It is a computer chip encased in Titanium alloy and is water and shock proof.

They even offer a Dog Tag or Key Chain version, and if you wanted to play "Super Hero" a special Ring that you wear.

What sets their software apart from any that I have seen, is the options available.

He also showed me how the whole system works. If you have the Battery version,
you simple install the login device, and make contact with it - just a light touch is
all that is needed to Log In.

It works flawlessly and they even offer a USB version. Some of the features include
a special package for those who need to allow outside connections to web servers
or workstations.

Features
The advantage their barcode and battery version has over traditional security methods:
No password to forget
No easy passwords to guess
Backdoor in case device or card is lost or stolen
Very inexpensive compared to other methods
(new installs only run about $10 per PC)
Fully scalable
No password to get revealed over the phone or to co-workers (given out)
Also doubles as a punch clock
So easy to install -requires no special hardware drivers.

Some of the security options are:
Hide desktop
Lock PC
Hide taskbar
Restrict Programs
Hide all programs
Windows Login protection for Windows 98, NT and special version for 2000

In Conclusion
You can order this product by sending an inquiry to this email.

It costs $49.00 with the battery lock (recommended) or $29.00 for a "lite" home version that only allows for barcode card or text logins. They also offer bulk
copies for offices with several users.

WebNovice highly recommends this product, especially if you have kids you
want to keep off your PC, nosey co-workers or any other reason you would
want to secure your computer.
